Go-ahead expected for job-creating employment zone
More than 150 jobs could be created if plans for a new employment zone in a former colliery in Nottinghamshire are approved.Harworth Group is behind the bid for the former Gedling Colliery which opened in 1899 but closed in 1991.The application includes a total of 60,000 sq ft of space for three employment units as well as a 8,611 sq ft pub/restaurant and a 3,013 sq ft drive-thru.If approved by Gedling Borough Council at a meeting on Wednesday 7 November, a total of 168 full-time equivalent jobs would be created.The ten-acre site would also feature 310 car parking spaces.The application comes after permission has already been granted for 1,050 homes, a local centre with retail units and a health centre as well as a new primary school near the site.
