Mace to firm up Tewkesbury town centre regeneration plans
Tewkesbury Borough Council has contracted Mace to consider options for a significant regeneration of the town centre.
As regeneration advisor, Mace will investigate opportunities for social, economic and sustainable growth in Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire – with particular focus on the Spring Gardens site adjacent to the high street. The future use of this site is to be explored, as are wider opportunities for the town centre as a whole, with a view to delivering on the communities aspirations for the regeneration scheme.
Mace has previously delivered numerous large-scale regeneration projects across the UK – as Olympic 2012 Delivery Partner for the regeneration of Stratford, at Coal Orchard in Taunton and again, during the redevelopment of Birmingham New Street Station.
According to Councillor Rob Bird, Leader of Tewkesbury Borough Council: “This is an exciting opportunity to maximise the potential of Tewkesbury town centre and unlock its growth opportunities. The redevelopment of Spring Gardens is a key priority for the council and we are very happy to announce the appointment of Mace, who have a long track record of the successful delivery of projects like this.”
Stuart Wilkinson, Director of Mace, added: “We’re obviously very proud to have been appointed by Tewkesbury Borough Council to assist with the delivery of such an important development opportunity for the town. This site provides the opportunity to deliver some transformative development in the centre of Tewkesbury, and we look forward to working closely with the Council to make the plans a reality.”
