425-home York scheme set for approval
Plans to construct hundreds of new homes on land to the west of York’s former Nestle factory buildings are set to get the green light.North Yorkshire-based developer Newby lodged the plans for the land at Cocoa West on Wigginton Road in May 2018. The site once accommodated the core of Nestle’s original factory buildings, which were developed between 1890 and 1940 and have since been demolished.The 425-home scheme comprises a mix of 118 three- and four-bed homes and more than 300 apartments.The outline application also proposes more than 10,000 sq ft of commercial floorspace, a crèche, a community building and a food store.The plans will go before the City of York Council’s planning committee on 15 November 2018 with a recommendation for approval.
