Delay for £50m regeneration scheme

Plans for a new headquarters for Warwick District Council, 170 homes and a 620-space car park in Leamington town centre have been delayed.The authority has confirmed a report will be submitted to the executive in January, instead of the planned date on 28 November, ahead of a meeting of the full council the following month.Leader Cllr Andrew Mobbs said the due diligence process has not yet been completed and that discussions are still ongoing to finalise the precise structure of the stage two financial and legal agreements.He added that the necessary legal, technical and commercial advice cannot be obtained until this has been fixed.Outline planning permission was approved for the scheme in January.When completed, up to 170 new homes, across a group of buildings ranging between 2.5 and six storeys high, will have been built on the current site of the council’s headquarters on Milverton Hill.The sale of the land will fund the authority’s new 28,901 sq ft base.
