Kier Construction Scotland wins £9.7m University of Strathclyde contract

Kier Construction Scotland has won a £9.7m contract to redevelop the University of Strathclyde’s Wolfson building in Glasgow. The work on the six-storey listed building is a part of a wider £15.5m investment in the site to establish it as a leading UK biomedical engineering department.The work is due to start shortly and the building is due to be completed by early 2020.The programme of work includes providing new research and teaching laboratories, increased office accommodation for staff and students and new social spaces for students.Other higher education projects that Kier is delivering in Scotland include the completion of a £14m redevelopment of Edinburgh College of Art and a £7.7m redevelopment of Murchison House, both for the University of Edinburgh.Kier has also recently completed work at the University of Aberdeen, Abertay University, Robert Gordon University and the University of the West of Scotland.Kier Construction is one of four principal supply chain partners on the University of Strathclyde’s £250m framework to support the delivery of its ongoing Capital Investment Plan.
