Work begins on County Durham residential development
Work has started on a 99-home development in Bishop Auckland. The site, near Bishop’s Park, is now being prepared for construction to begin before Christmas. The scheme will feature 49 properties available for sale through developer Galliford Try’s new homes division, Linden Homes, with a further 30 for affordable rent and 20 for shared ownership through Riverside Home Ownership.The eight-acre development is part of a larger site which was originally granted outline planning permission for 500 homes in 2011. However the proposal did not come to fruition and the land, earmarked for housing since 2007, was never developed.Galliford Try Partnerships North revived plans for the site using a grant from Homes England’s Affordable Homes Programme.The first new homes at the site could be ready to occupy by summer 2019.
