Development on former bingo hall set for approval

The development of three residential towers on the site of a former bingo hall in East Yorkshire is set to move forward with a planning application for the scheme recommended for approval later this week (5 December 2018).Cielo Realty submitted an application to East Riding of Yorkshire Council earlier this year for development on the former Clifton Bingo Club site in Cleethorpes.Planning permission is sought for the construction of three new buildings that would provide a total of 99 apartment and 8,740 sq ft of commercial space.The tallest of the new buildings in the One Cleethorpes scheme would measure 13 storeys and comprise 36 apartments and two commercial units.New nine- and 11-storey buildings would also be constructed, with the first featuring 30 flats and three commercial units and the second 33 flats and two units.An underground car park beneath the three buildings would provide 178 bicycle, 69 car and 11 motorbike spaces.The reserved matters application covers the layout, appearance, scale and landscaping of the development. Outline planning permission for a primarily-residential mixed-use development was granted in 2016.The scheme will go before he council’s planning committee on 5 December and is recommended for approval, subject to the signing of a Section 106 agreement.The application site is located within the Cleethorpes Seafront Conservation Area and the report added that particular consideration had been given to the impact of the scheme on the area and the nearby listed buildings.
