Green light for universitys major accomodation project
The green light has been given to build accommodation for more than 1,700 students at Keele University.The application, which was voted through by Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council’s planning committee on Thursday 3 January, includes the demolition of 732 student bed-spaces and the erection of 20 new buildings to provide 1,685 bedrooms with space for 1,706 students.It will also feature a social hub at the sites of Horwood and Lindsey halls as well as a car park.The bid came after permission was granted in 2017 for 617 new bed spaces at Barnes, 814 at Lindsey and 915 at Horwood.Keele University’s campus is based near Newcastle-under-Lyme and provides education to about 12,000 students.
