Approval nears for demolition of Oldham mill
Plans to demolish a historic spinning mill in Oldham to make way for a residential development look set to be approved.Hartford Mill was built in 1907, with additions incorporated in the 1920s. It became grade II-listed in 1983.Since 1991, the site has been vacant after previous owner Littlewoods – which used it as a mail order depot – departed. It is in an “increasingly dilapidated condition”.An application set to be reviewed by Oldham Council on 16 January has proposed demolishing the site to facilitate a comprehensive residential redevelopment.The vast majority of details for the housing element of the project are reserved.
