More than 250 homes at former schools set for approval
More than 250 homes could be built on the site of two Cardiff schools, one of which was the venue for competition during the 1958 Empire Games.Of the homes, 214 are planned for Eastern High School in the Rumney area of the city, which hosted fencing events for the Sixth British Empire and Commonwealth Games, with a 43-home development planned for the Howardian adult education centre.Both sets of plans have been submitted by Cardiff Council and Wates Residential. The two bodies are working in partnership as Cardiff Living to provide 1,500 homes in the city over ten years.Cardiff Council’s planning committee will discuss the proposals tomorrow, with both recommended for approval pending a section 106 agreement.Of the 214 homes planned Easter High School development, 65 (including a 44-bed older persons independent living block) will be designated as affordable.
