More holiday lodges planned for golf course

A further development of holiday lodges could be built at a Grimsby golf course, designed to help support the venue as a tourist destination, if newly submitted plans get the green light.Keir Architecture, on behalf of Laceby Manor Resort, has submitted an application to North East Lincolnshire Council for a 16.1-acre site adjacent to the golf course.Planning permission is sought for change of use of the land for the siting of 74 timber golf holiday lodges.The development has been designed to support the long-term future and sustainability of the resort, and will enable it to take on more bookings. It is also expected to lead to the creation of about 25 jobs.A design and access statement prepared as part of the application said the proposed development would “sustain and develop the valued tourist destination, well into the foreseeable future”.The 18-hole Laceby Manor Golf Course measures a total of about 124 acres and is located to the South East of the village of Laceby.Planning permission was previously been granted for 55 lodges at the course, with 29 so far built.Approval was also granted at the end of 2018 for two new buildings adjacent to the existing clubhouse and car park at the site. These would comprise a new gym, spa and golf course administration offices, together with 12 new hotel rooms.
