Green light for retirement village plans
Developer York House Leisure (YHL) has secured planning permission for a new retirement village on derelict land near Selby.The company, which runs retirement and holiday parks across Yorkshire and Scotland, has been granted approval for the scheme from Selby District Council’s planning committee.The multimillion-pound development at Gateforth Park will comprise 168 residential park homes, along with a reception building, shop and meeting area, public and private amenity space and a village green.The 45-acre site of a former mushroom farm will be redeveloped to include water features, lakes, and other measures aimed at improving biodiversity.The new retirement village will create up to six operational jobs, with more during construction.
