Pure Leisure Group submits Lancaster holiday park plans
Pure Leisure Group has outlined plans to build a 215-strong holiday lodge resort in Lancaster which will create jobs and provide a boost to the economy.An application has been submitted to Lancaster City Council to establish the venue on the site of a former sand and gravel quarry in Carnforth, from which any major extraction ceased more than a decade ago.In 2015, planning permission was granted for 138 holiday lodges, landscaping, access and parking with Pure Leisure having subsequently commenced development. It now hopes to establish a much larger development.Approximately 150 lodges would be served from the westerly access, of which 42 have already been cited in the South Western corner. The remaining 65 lodges would be served from the easterly access.Pure Leisure Group is owned by John Morphet. It operates a number of holiday lodge and caravan parks across the UK, as well as a golf course and luxury apartment/villa estate in Barbados.Speaking to Insider in 2018, the company said it would be reporting “an extremely good year for the UK for the year to January 2019”.
