Medway Council wishes to recommission its short breaks provision for children and young adults with disabilities aged up to 18 in order to give parents/carers and their families a break from their caring role. Short breaks provision includes a spectrum of services ranging from supporting a young person to attend a local scout group/youth club to join in a sporting event or some other social and leisure activity, attending an after school club, a play group in the holidays (either 1 specifically designed for children and young people with disabilities or 1 set up to support non-disabled children), sitting and befriending services, through to spending a set number of nights in a residential type setting.
