Plans submitted for more new homes to be built

DEVELOPERS have submitted plans to Tamworth Borough Council for more new homes to be built in the North West corner of the Borough.The application shows plans for another 163 homes on land which sits on the northern site of Coton Lane, opposite the Fox Public House, Helmingham and Osbourne.Planning permission has been submitted by Maplevale Developments.The homes on the plan range from 1 to 5 bedrooms which comprise of 132 Open Market (Private sale) homes and 31 affordable homes – as well as some public open space and shared bike and bin stores.The majority of proposed development does with within the administrative area boundary of Tamworth Borough Council but there is a small section that crosses into neighbouring Lichfield.Due to this, the application has also been submitted to Lichfield District Council.The site is around 11.6 Acres in size and is currently home to Coton House Farm – a ‘Brownfield’ site made up of residential property and commercial uses.There is also a large arable field, along with an agricultural building to the east of the site.Within the Tamworth Borough Council local plan (2006-2031) – this area of land was identified for housing – as part of the plan to deliver the additional required 4,425 homes by 2031.Local residents can add their comments to the application until 14 March 2019 and this can be done here or by visiting the Tamworth Borough Council Planning Portal and searching for planning application 0020/2019.
