The proposed redevelopment of a prominent former car showroom site in Sheffield to provide retail units, office space and luxury townhouses is recommended for approval at a planning meeting next week (12 March 2019).Sheffield-based Primesite UK, supported by CODA Planning, submitted an application in October 2018 for a site at the junction of Ecclesall Road, Ecclesall Road South and Psalter Lane, Banner Cross. The site was previously used as a car showroom but has lain dormant for a number of years following Gilders relocation to Meadowhead.Planning permission is sought to convert the car showroom into four retail and leisure units. The workshop and stores would also be converted into office accommodation for accountancy firm Brown McLeod and eight luxury townhouses would be built to the rear of the site. The application is recommended for approval, subject for conditions, in a planning officer’s reported prepared for the council’s planning and highways committee on 12 March.
