Walkley backs Stockport ambition on Town Centre West
The chief executive of government housing agency Homes England has thrown his weight behind Stockport’s plans to redevelop Town Centre West as it ramps up plans with Stockport Council towards co-delivery of the project.Speaking to Insider following a presentation at MIPIM, Nick Walkley said he was keen to find people and places “who are really ambitious”.Walkley said plans for a Mayoral Development Corporation (MDC) in the town, which have been brought forward by Stockport Council, would be beneficial to the development of urban brownfield land which falls under multiple ownership.Caroline Simpson, director of place at Stockport Council, said Homes England had “been brilliant”.Simpson said what she hoped from the partnership was to move from co-design towards co-delivery in the longer term.
