Plans for the development of almost 80 homes on land in Newport Pagnell have been given the thumbs up by Milton Keynes Council. The land earmarked for the scheme lies to the north of Rowditch Furlong on a disused parcel adjacent to the Ramada hotel and motorway services. It is also near the redevelopment of the former Rocla Pipes site known as Redhouse Park. The 77 homes will comprise a mix of 42 apartments and 35 houses of which 23 units will be affordable.Milton Keynes Council planning officers said the project “would amount to sustainable development under the terms of national policy”.Approval is subject to a section 106 agreement, which will secure financial contributions towards education, local parks and emergency services among other things. In 2016, outline permission was granted for a 56-home development at the site, as well as offices and the relocation of the hotel. It was not pursued by the applicant.Full planning permission was also granted for the redevelopment of the site with a hotel, office building and car parking, but this was also not pursued.
