Plans lodged for York brewery
Plans have been lodged for the conversion of an industrial unit on a former railway goods yard into a craft brewery.Drinks wholesaler Pivovar has submitted an application to City of York Council for development on Station Yard in Elvington. The business is seeking planning consent for new premises enabling it to operate a new craft brewing company and test brewery manufacturing ales and lagers.Pivovar operates as a national drinks wholesaler and supplies its own bar and restaurant estate, currently operating four sites in York.It currently brews beers at sites in Sheffield and Leeds, with the bulk of its lager produced by a partner brewery in the Czech Republic. The business recently invested in a nano test brewery at the Spark project in York city centre to develop its lager brewing, reducing its reliance on the Czech brewery. However, a larger out-of-town facility is now required. The new brewery would employ and additional four staff and be used as a training facility for the sites in Sheffield and Leeds. The facility would also provide direct access to Pivovar’s existing warehousing and logistics premises.
