Design team appointed for £20m Newry regeneration development
A £20m project to transform Newry’s city centre as part of the City Region deal is expected to get under way next year.The proposed development includes the construction of a new theatre and conference facility and a civic hub alongside the public realm in Newry city as part of the wider infrastructure projects funded through the Belfast City Region deal.Newry, Mourne and Down District Council said the project should help attract additional investment from the public and private sectors.Subject to statutory approvals and securing contractor teams, construction of the theatre/conference facility and civic hub projects are scheduled to commence in mid-2020.
