4. Description: About the Opportunity:
Supply and delivery of various inserts required for the Precast Tunnel Segments (inserts; Connection dowels, guiding rods, shear cones, grout hole sockets, sockets for temporary brackets), providing a 120year design life and in compliance with the design standards required under the Main Contract works information. There are approximately 16,000 precast rings – each requiring c.87 inserts (14 connection dowels, 14 guiding rods, 28 shear cones, 7 grout hole sockets and 24 sockets for temporary brackets) Each tunnel ring comprises of 7 separate segments. Selection of our supply chain is anticipated to be carried out over the next 2-3 months, however deliveries are not likely to be required until Spring 2020. Deliveries are to be aligned to the production dates for the precast segments.

The package will be competitively tendered and assessed against a split between commercial (price) and defined technical criteria – Split to be confirmed, however it is anticipated that a significant weighting will be allocated to both elements of the tender
About the buyer:
In July 2017, ALIGN (Bouygues Travaux Publics, Sir Robert McAlpine and Volker Fitzpatrick)won the significant C1 package of the UK High Speed 2 line (HS2). Lot C1 consists of 21.6km of high speed rail infrastructure in a rural environment. This will include a 3.37km viaduct, 15.75km twin-tubes tunnel and five vent shafts handling both piston effect and tunnel ventilation.
