24-storey tower scheme set for approval

Plans for a 24-storey mixed-use development featuring almost 450 flats on a former car dealership site in Sheffield city centre look set to get the green light when they go before councillors next week (23 April 2019).Even Living Ltd, supported by Quod and Den Architecture, submitted an application to Sheffield City Council last year for the redevelopment of the former Sytner BMW site in the city’s the St Vincent’s Quarter.The site comprises two plots to the north of Broad Lane and Tenter Street, separated by Hollis Croft.Full planning permission is sought for the demolition of the existing buildings and construction of a new mixed-use development.The building on Plot A would range in height from seven to 13 storeys, with Plot B ranging from eight to 24 storeys.The proposed scheme would comprise 424 residential apartments and 20 co-living cluster apartments for the private rented sector. Three ground floor commercial units, suitable for a range of uses, are also proposed.The development is expected to support the creation of about 450 construction jobs, with a corresponding increase in GVA of more than £17m.The application will go before the council’s Planning and Highways committee on 23 April and is recommended for approval, subject to the signing of a legal agreement.Velocity Village, a residential-led property comprising five buildings, landscaped courtyards and commercial space, is located to the north of the site.
