Latest Formby Hall development plans set to move forward

Plans to continue to redevelopment of Formby Hall Golf Club look set to be backed.Proposed by Formby Leisure is the building of up to 11 woodland lodges to be used as part of the wider hotel provision within the resort.Concerns have been raised over the “inappropriate development” of the Green Belt but both the “unusual nature” of the accommodation and its setting are expected to help make a “distinctive contribution to tourism and to the economy of the borough”.The headline economic impacts estimated in relation to the construction phase of the development are:About £18m is expected to be spent on the scheme, creating 143 temporary construction jobs. There would also be 183 direct, indirect and induced additional jobs across the North West.Upon completion, there would be an uplift in visitor expenditure totalling between £850,000 and £1.7m.
