Forshaw sets start date for £35m Bolton scheme

After securing planning permission last week, the developer is aiming to start work on its 262-home project in Bolton’s Croal Valley in the fourth quarter of this year.The proposals were given the green light by Bolton Council’s planning committee and are for a plot fronting St George’s Road between Bark Street and Back Bark Street.Forshaw is proposing a mix of apartments in townhouses split between a nine-and-six storey block, which has been designed by architect Hattrell DS One. Residential amenities include a gym, private cinema rooms, residents’ lounges, and a roof terrace.The Bolton-based developer expects to start work on the project in the last quarter of this year, although a contractor is yet to be appointed.The plans follow earlier proposals by developer Midia for a £45m project next to the railway and bus stations, led by a 20-storey residential tower set to include 150 one and two-bed apartments targeted at young professionals, commuters, and growing families.Alongside, the developer is proposing a 500-space multi-storey car park and a 30,000 sq ft office block. A planning application is expected for the project in the spring.Midia is also involved with plans for the Crompton Place Shopping Centre, bought by Bolton Council last year for £14.8m. Working with BCEGI, plans are being worked up for a new retail and leisure development on the site.Bolton’s planning committee also approved Muse’s plans for Church Wharf last week; working with architect AEW, the developer’s proposals feature a residential-led mixed use development including around 320 homes as well as the potential for a hotel, offices, and ground-floor retail and commercial space.There will be a mix of one, two, and three-bed flats along with duplexes and townhouses.
