Plans have been submitted for a new 900-home residential development to the north west of Newcastle.Banks Property is seeking permission for Kingston Village, a multimillion-pound scheme comprising about 900 family homes on a 121-acre site to the west of Brunton Lane. The scheme will also include a new primary school, retail units, allotments, a village green and other large areas of open space.A network of public footpaths and cycle ways, including links to nearby Newcastle Great Park and Kingston Park, are to be built, while additional local infrastructure and improved public transport links would also be created. The Durham-based family-owned developer held three exhibitions in local communities in November last year to introduce the outline plans, with a follow-up event held in February to highlight how the scheme had been altered in response to feedback. It aims to have its planning application considered by Newcastle City Council before the end of the year. If approved, work is due to start on the site by 2021.
