80-bed care home plan forms part of major Solihull development

Detailed plans for an 80-bed care home form another part of a major mixed-use development in Solihull.Octopus Healthcare has outlined its vision for a new facility at the borough’s Blythe Valley Park, near Junction 4 of the M42.The application comes a little over two years after the council granted outline planning permission for significant changes to the sprawling site.The care home was part of the proposals which were agreed “in principle” back in 2017, although more detailed plans for the different parts of the scheme are being brought forward in phases.Earlier this month the Local Democracy Reporting Service (LDRS) published details of Bloor Homes’ plans for a 124-home housing development on another part of the campus.The care home site is designated ‘Plot L’ in the masterplan and amounts to around 0.6 hectares of former grassland. The area has more recently been cleared and is now bare earth.The three-storey building would include a cafe area, two lounge/dining facilities and a hair/beauty salon, documents show.A 32-space car park would sit alongside the T-shaped building.Octopus manages a range of care homes across the UK and was the developer behind a previous scheme to convert Tudor Grange House into a 108 unit facility.This separate application, on the site of Solihull College’s Blossomfield Road campus, was approved in April 2018
