Eatery, homes and businesses revealed for major Solihull development
Further plans for Blythe Valley site have been submittedA major mixed-used development in Solihull continues to take shape, with plans to build a neighbourhood centre at Blythe Valley Park brought forward. The scheme – which is intended to be a mix of both homes and businesses – will sit at the heart of plans to transform the sprawling site, near Junction 4 of the M42.The latest application included 48 one and two bedroom apartments, a convenience store, eatery and another retail outlet. It is the latest set of plans for the Blythe Valley site to have been officially submitted to the council within the last few weeks. The Local Democracy Reporting Service (LDRS) has previously reported on the separate proposals for an 80-bed care home and a 100 plus housing development elsewhere on the land.IM Properties (IMP) said that the centre was intended to act as “a hub” for the wider redevelopment, which was granted outline planning permission back in 2017 and will ultimately include more than 700 homes. The previous decision means that further debate of the individual elements will focus on the finer details such as the design, layout and the impact on the environment.Should the council grant the neighbourhood centre planning permission, work is due to start next year. The project will provide a significant number of the new homes which the borough needs to build in the coming years, amid growing demand for dwellings.Although there have been concerns that a “disproportionate” amount of new housing is being concentrated in Solihull ‘s south west corner, with nearby villages such as Dickens Heath and Cheswick Green having already seen significant expansion.
