Approval for second phase of Willen Lake Masterplan

Plans to build new facilities at Willen Lake in Milton Keynes, including a new water sports centre, have received the green light.The application forms the second phase of the Willen Lake Masterplan, brought forward by MK Parks Trust.The first phase of the project, covering 15.56 acres between Brickhill Street and Redway to the west of the lake, will provide an amphitheatre and events area, a water play area and natural play trail, and a kiosk building, This phase will also expand the site’s car park to provide 438 spaces.Phase two proposes the development of more than eight acres of space at the site of the Promontory on Brickhill Street and includes the construction of a pair of two-storey linked buildings.They will house a new café and restaurant, a water sports centre with reception, changing area and toilet facilities and an ancillary apartment. The water sports centre will span more than 4,400 sq ft.Plans also include the installation of a jetty and upgrades to the children’s play area and footpath system.The application for the second phase of the masterplan was given the thumbs up by Milton Keynes Council planners.
