Student scheme in Belfast secures planning approval
Plans for a major student accommodation scheme on a raised platform above the railway line between University Road and Botanic Avenue in Belfast have been approved.Planning consultancy Turley has secured permission for a four-storey, 253-bed managed student accommodation building on behalf of applicant Botanic Link Ltd.The principle of purpose built student accommodation was considered acceptable at the site, which is located close to the Queens University campus, according to a report published ahead of a Belfast City Council meeting earlier this week.The scheme was also said to be compatible with the surrounding area which is characterised by mixed commercial use with a number of shops, hot food bars, restaurant/cafes and public houses.Lacuna Developments tweeted that it was “delighted to have secured our fifth student scheme in Belfast”.
