Gin distillery plans for historic castle approved

Plans to convert part of a Welsh castle into a gin distillery have been approved by Vale of Glamorgan Council.The plans for Hensol Castle, part of a scheme which includes craft spirit distillery, bonded warehouse, gin school and visitor experience, will help turn the site into a tourism destination while also producing a range of spirits for commercial sale.Up to 120 new jobs are set to be created over the next three years, with this specific part of the development creating seven.The company, trading as Hensol Castle Distillery, is a joint venture between the Leeke family, who own The Vale Resort and Leekes, and the Mallows family from Cowbridge, who own Bottlers & Distillers Wales.
