Planning milestone for £6.3m residential redevelopment

Plans for a £6.3m redevelopment in Newcastle, which involves the conversion of an office block into flats, has secured planning approval.The project for 152-156 New Bridge Street is being brought forward by property investment and development firm Tyneside Group.Tenants are expected to begin moving into the scheme’s proposed 64 bedrooms from September 2021.Located close to the Northumbria University campus, the flats are being designed to appeal to a variety of residents, including young professionals and university students.The development is set to be called Regent Manor.All work on the project will be completed by local businesses where possible. This will include architects’ practice Mawson Kerr, engineering firm James Christopher Consulting and J H Partners and Quantity Surveyors, Thornton Firkin. The Way Forward North East will provide health and safety consultation on the project.
