Plans for 149-home Swindon scheme set for nod

Plans to demolish a former residential block in Swindon to make way for almost 150 new homes look set to be approved.The site earmarked for development is the former George Gay Gardens, a four-storey building with 50 flats, on Kelham Close in Park South. It was knocked down in May 2019.Other buildings set for demolition front Queens Drive and include 36 residential units.Queens Drive is a major route from the M4 into Swindon town centre.The application to go before Swindon Borough Council’s planning committee next week (13 August 2019) proposes the construction of 100 apartments and 49 houses on the site.Of the total, 109 units will be for rent, 20 for shared ownership and 20 for the Swindon Housing Company for market rental.
