Office building and housing approved for Brighton site

A new office building and housing is set to be built on a site in central Brighton after planning permission was granted for the development.Bright and Hove City Council has approved three houses and a two-storey office building on a vacant plot on Upper Gardner Street.The site is between an existing warehouse and terraced houses and the proposal is to build new houses in the northern part of the site and extend the existing building for office space. A new two-storey bridge building for office use will also be created fronting Upper Gardner Street.Part of the boundary wall that supported the roof over the existing building has partially collapsed and most of the roof has had to be removed.As a result, it would be expensive to reinstate the building as a warehouse and is has been deemed that it would have more value and benefit as office space.
