Plans in the pipeline for major Hampshire solar farm

Plans are in the pipeline for the construction of a solar farm in Hampshire which would produce enough energy for thousands of homes, new documents seen by Insider have revealed.Land at Wildwood Farm in Newnham Lane in Old Basing has been earmarked for the potential project.AECOM has submitted a screening opinion for an environmental impact assessment for the scheme – on behalf of Low Carbon Investment Management – to Basingstoke & Deane Borough Council.The development would comprise rows of solar PV panels, seven batteries within shipping containers, up to 11 inverters within shipping containers, two substations, access tracks, cabling routes and a perimeter fence.If it goes ahead, the solar farm could produce enough energy for about 6,800 homes.The site would be access from Newnham Lane, where there is an existing road associated with the farm.Basingstoke & Deane Borough Council will now determine whether an environmental impact assessment is necessary.
