Joseph Heler secures backing for extension
Plans for Joseph Heler to expand its Hatherton site have been backed. The proposal sought permission for a cold store extension to the east of the company’s existing operation to assist with the storage of cheese produced at the facility. With a gross external floor area of 25,000 sq ft, it is earmarked for currently undeveloped land.Consent was granted for a similar extension in 2017 on the basis that it would allow all cheeses manufactured on site to be stored without the need for it to be transported away to the units in Crewe and Whitchurch for maturing purposes before being brought back for packing. While this has been built, it only allows 65 per cent of the goods made to be stored with the remainder still needing to be taken off-site.Approval was recommended and has now been granted.
