Plans include a minimum of of 700 homes – 60% of which are affordable. The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan has today (6th September) launched a search for a development partner for the St Ann’s hospital site in Haringey.Purchasing two-thirds of the site from the Barnet, Enfield and Haringey Mental Health Trust in March last year, plans include the construction of a minimum of 700 new homes – 60% of which are due to be affordable. It is said that Khan’s intervention will boost the number of genuinely affordable homes on the site by five times compared to the existing planning permission, which included around 400 homes, of which just 14% are affordable.Proposals include 50 homes set aside for community-led housing, with 60% of the remaining affordable homes sitting at social-rent levels.A further 20% will be London Living Rent, and the remaining 20% will be Shared Ownership. The London Borough of Haringey will also have the option to acquire half of the proposed homes at social rent level, meaning the St Ann’s Hospital site could have scope to deliver at least 100 rented council homes at council rents.Today’s announcement kicks off the search with aims to appoint a partner in Spring 2020, with building to start on site by the end of March 2022.
