Plans lodged for new sports facilities
Plans have been lodged for a series of new sports facilities on a university-owned site in Leeds.DPP Planning, on behalf of the University of Leeds, has submitted an application for development on Bodington Playing Fields.Planning permission is sought for three new synthetic football pitches together with an ancillary pavilion building. The proposed pitches are based on Sport England standards for five- and seven-a-side and would also include areas for spectators. The pavilion building would provide changing facilities, reception area, bar and external terrace. A 204-space car park would also be created. The development is expected to support the creation of a number of jobs to support the management, maintenance and booking of the pitches for the students and wider community. The wider site is also home to the Brownlee centre, featuring cycling track, cross country course and associated facilities.
