A revised Local Transport Plan (LTP) designed to boost connectivity across Cheshire East looks set to be backed. The document brings together strategies for all modes of transport to ensure there is a coherent approach to meeting the council’s wider objectives for the economic, environmental and social well-being of the area.To inform development of the proposals, the public and stakeholders were engaged as part of an eight-week consultation period from the 1 May to 25 June 2018.A year later, the Environment & Regeneration Overview and Scrutiny Committee considered a report on the outcomes of the consultation.Revisions were subsequently made to take account of the key issues highlighted throughout the process, with the draft document now set to go before Cheshire East Council’s Cabinet.Alterations made concern a host of subjects, including HS2, cross-border integration between Cheshire East and Greater Manchester, connectivity between the region and Manchester Airport, and the reopening of Middlewich Station, among others.A report to Cabinet has asked that it recommend the revised LTP be adopted by the authority, with a meeting set to take place on 8 October.
