Proposals for the development of 205 new homes at a location close to a Tyne & Wear village have been approved by the Gateshead planning and development committee.Property company Gleeson Regeneration submitted the application to Gateshead Council in 2018, with the plans originally set to be scrutinised by the planning and development committee on the 25 September. The application was deferred to earlier this week (16 October), where it was given the green light. The application includes the construction of 205 homes, to be built at a site near the village of Chopwell, consisting of 91 detached properties and 144 semi-detached properties. The site, which was recently used for agricultural purposes as an arable field, was formerly located within the green belt but now forms a housing allocation under the Core Strategy and Urban Core Plan (CSUCP).
