Details emerge of huge Lancaster development

Plans for a huge mixed-use development in Lancaster have taken a step forward as details of the project emerge.Taylor Wimpey is behind the scheme, which is earmarked for land to the south of the Bay Gateway Link Road. The company is in the process of undertaking a range of environmental surveys and technical assessments across the site to inform the design evolution.The residential element of the project would comprise 500 homes across a mix of types, which would sit alongside almost five acres of employment land.Also proposed is a local centre, offering a range of services and facilities, as well as land for a two-form entry primary school.The main site access would be via the A6, with further potential points being confirmed with transport consultant Croft Eddisons.The Bay Gateway Link Road is a strip approximately 4.8km in length which connects the junction of the A683 and A589 to Junction 34 of the M6 motorway. It was completed in October 2016 following planning permission in March 2013.
