Preparatory works underway on major Jackton development

CALA Homes (West) has announced the start of preparatory works for the development of around 400 new homes in Jackton.Outline planning permission has already been obtained from South Lanarkshire Council for the creation of residential-led development which will deliver approximately 1,950 homes from a consortium which also includes Lynch Homes and Abbey Developments.A new primary school, play areas, green space and retail outlets are included in the masterplan. Part of the East Kilbride Community Growth Area (CGA), the development has been tipped to support the delivery of an expected 250 affordable homes, including 21 sheltered housing flats.Initial works include the construction of the first phase of a spine road that will serve the whole site and eventually connect Jackton to Lindsayfield. This primary road is said to be crucial to the construction of the primary school, which will be funded by South Lanarkshire Council and is expected to open in 2021.The first phase of property construction, which CALA plans to start in early 2020, will deliver 173 homes, comprising one and two-bedroom apartments through to terraced, detached and semi-detached villas, as well as 21 affordable homes.All homes will also feature a renewable energy solution such as either PV panels or hybrid air source heat pumps.
