A long-established Liverpool restaurant has received the green light from the city council to expand.Casa Italia at 36-40 Stanley Street has been visited by the like of Paul McCartney and Liam Gallagher over the years. It was established by the Campolucci-Bordi family in 1976 and currently comprises 160 covers. In October, Insider reported that the eatery had been awarded £650,000 from OakNorth Bank to refinance existing borrowing and support the expansion. An application filed with Liverpool City Council proposed the change of use of part of 34 Stanley Street to provide more space for Casa Italia. The units would be joined together via a new opening and no external changes are proposed. The project has now been granted planning permission.Officers said the plans are “acceptable from a land use perspective” and it is “not considered that the development would have any detrimental impact upon the visual amenities of the area or the living conditions of adjacent occupiers.”
