Green light given to former college housing scheme
The green light has been given to an affordable housing scheme on the site of a former college campus.Approved by Sunderland City Council, Karbon Homes’ £20m North Hylton development will provide 105 new homes of different styles and tenures, situated where the former Sunderland College campus, which close in 2016, still stands.Consisting of a mix of affordable rented homes and rent-to-buy properties, with family homes and bungalows for older residents alongside one another, the plans are part of a £44m investment by Karbon to build nearly 300 homes in Sunderland.Karbon Homes has worked alongside Homes England to bring the project to fruition and has worked alongside IDPartnership architects on the masterplan.
