Thumbs-up expected for new AMH plots

Proposals to develop plots three and four of the Advanced Manufacturing Hub in Birmingham have been tipped for the go-ahead.A total of 18 commercial units in four buildings could be created in Aston Hall Road, Aston, if backing is given by Birmingham City Council’s planning committee at a meeting on Thursday 16 January.The authority, along with Homes England, is behind the plans which include a total floor space of 92,128 sq ft.The AMH has already attracted a number of major manufacturing companies, created more than 1,500 jobs and secured in excess of £70m of private sector investment.The subject site was previously occupied by a residential tower block, several rows of houses, two pubs, a bakery and a garage. All have been demolished.If approved, Block A would have five units, Block B have two, Block C have six and Block D, five.The application was originally submitted with provision for 19 commercial units.
