Glasgow surveyors win housing association contract
Glasgow-based NIXON has been appointed to work with Southside Housing Association (SHA) to survey more than 3,000 of its properties.Quantity surveyors within the multi-disciplinary team will provide surveys and reinstatement cost assessments to some 3,500 properties. The properties owned or factored by SHA are being surveyed by the team to provide up-to-date valuations, as set out in Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) guidelines.Southside Housing Association is currently updating its buildings insurance policies and, as part of this process, new up-to-date reinstatement valuations are being provided by NIXON for its properties. Reinstatement valuations fully cover the cost to demolish, clear the site, rebuild properties to the same specification, as well as covering associated legal and professional fees in the event of a major loss. The RICS guidelines recommend that a major review and reassessment every three years, or earlier, should significant alterations be made to the insured properties.
