Approval lined up for huge Maghull development

A huge mixed-use scheme in Maghull comprising more than 1,700 homes looks set to get the go-ahead next week.Two applications are set to be considered, with the two being referred to as Site A and Site B.Site A seeks full permission for the demolition of existing buildings on land bounded by Poverty Lane with 841 homes to be built in their place. Public open space and ancillary infrastructure is also lined up, with outline permission sought for an older persons housing scheme.Site B is also in outline form and proposes further demolition work with up to 855 homes being brought forward, alongside another care home and a local centre. This plot is located to the North of Site A.A host of concerns have been raised over Site A, including a 55-strong petition and 124 letters or emails of objection.Site B has come under similar scrutiny, with 114 letters or email being submitted. Many of these refer to both elements of the scheme.However, reports to Sefton Council’s planning committee – which will come together on 22 January for a special meeting – outline the benefits of both, nothing the economic growth and job creation aspects of the pair.Approval has been recommended.
