First phase of 3,500-home development acquired
The acquisition of land earmarked for the first phase of a major development of 3,500 homes has been completed.CALA Homes is behind the project at Long Marston Airfield in Stratford-Upon-Avon and will start enabling works in the spring.Planning approval is already in place for the first 400 homes, community facilities and employment space on the site which forms part of the proposed Long Marston Garden Village.It will also be supported by up to £13.4m of funding from the Homes England Housing Infrastructure Fund (HIF).The development will also feature 43,000 sq ft of community space, with the potential for employment units, health facilities, shops and a community centre.A total of 52 acres of public open space will also be created on the site, incorporating sports pitches, a multi-use games area, drainage ponds and a community orchard.
