Redevelopment of NHS site approved

Plans for the redevelopment of an NHS site in Sheffield to provide more than 160 new residential properties have been given the go-ahead.DLP Planning, on behalf of Sheffield Health and Social Care NHS Foundation Trust, submitted an outline planning application to Sheffield City Council last year for the scheme.The site on Old Fulwood Road is currently used as offices by the NHS. It comprises an eight storey tower block, two storey office blocks, service buildings, ancillary children’s nursery, and a car park.It also includes an Edwardian building on site, Fulwood House, which is considered to be of local interest by the council.A residential development comprising a minimum of 161 units, with least 132 apartments and 29 houses, is now set to be built on the site.Fulwood House will be retained and restored for residential use, with the other buildings currently on the site set to be demolished.The council’s planning and highways committee approved the plans, subject to conditions, at a meeting on 28 January 2020, in line with the recommendation of the planning officer.
