Leeds flyover bridge to be replaced in £30m project
A flyover bridge on the inner ring road in Leeds city centre is set to be rebuilt in a £30m project.The Regent Street Flyover, which was originally built in the late 1960s, will be replaced with a new structure as part of Connecting Leeds, the long-term transport strategy for the city.Leeds City Council said the work was required due to damage from road salt and poor construction details.An estimated 43,000 vehicles pass over the bridge every day while 30,000 vehicles pass below it on the A61.The work, which is scheduled to be completed in spring 2022, will involve some overnight and weekend closures.
