Plans lodged for job-creating holiday park

A new job-creating holiday park with facilities including a swimming pool, gym, bar and restaurant could be developed on a site in East Yorkshire under new plans.Pegasus Group, on behalf of MB Goodwin (Skipsea), has submitted an application to East Riding of Yorkshire Council for a site off Hornsea Road.The 84-acre site is currently in agricultural use and is located adjacent to Far Grange Park and Golf Club and Far Grange Caravan Park.The hybrid application seeks full planning permission for the change of use of the land to create 420 caravan pitches, as well as new access off Hornsea Road, drainage, lighting and landscaping.Outline consent is also sought for a 22,600 sq ft leisure hub featuring a swimming pool, gym and associated changing space, shops, offices, bar, restaurant and function facilities.The total direct spend in the area associated with the park has been estimated at about £4.3m per year, while it could potentially support the creation of about 112 full-time equivalent jobs in the tourism sector and wider economy.The applicant currently operates Skirlington Leisure Park, which feature facilities including a leisure centre, entrainment complex, indoor and outdoor activities, and Skirlington Market.
